IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/CARERS

We have been made aware that a self filmed uploaded video content depicting the suicide of an unknown 12 year old girl is available on the internet. This is extremely shocking and unsuitable for anyone, let alone children and teenagers. Our ISP is blocking the site across the East Midlands schools but we have now been advised to alert parents as clearly this remains available to all via home or phone networks. Please ensure you make all attempts to block the site and monitor your child's internet usage closely. You should ensure that you use "parental controls" to block by content as well as by inappropriate wording. This and many similar sites often have innocuous names which do not reveal the nature of the content so please be vigilant. I am a qualified science teacher, with a background of working with children and young people of varying ages and abilities, particularly those who need additional support to engage with the education system. I believe that learning should be fun, interactive and rewarding for the young person and also for those involved in teaching them. Parents are an important part of this learning experience. The Homework Club brings together these elements to create a positive environment for children and young people to learn. The Homework club will tailor learning to the individual needs of the child. We will be using technology, practical activities, diagrams and memory techniques to support the learning experience. We will do science experiments, build and engineer equipment and look at creative ways to improve understanding. For the older ones we will look at how to revise and prepare for the exams. For those who need support to improve their literacy and numeracy we will have many creative tools to support you, and for those who are just needing help with a project or particular piece of homework, bring it along so we can make it work for you!” For more information call 01623 721056 or email bookings@theacaciacentre.co.uk Homework Club Tuesdays 4-6 pm during term-time
