E SAFETY INFORMATION FOR ALL PARENTS

Share Aware, from NSPCC and O2, gives parents all the tools they need to have regular and informed conversations with their child about staying safe online. Under 20% of parents discuss online safety regularly with their children but we want to get every family talking about their child's life online, just as they would their day at school. The address below gives further information. https://www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/keeping-childrensafe/share/aware

HEALTH ALERT- FAKE TONGUE PIERCINGS

Public Health England have been notified of incidents involving teenagers in Nottinghamshire who have presented in hospital with abdominal complications following swallowing fake tongue piercings. This fashion statement consists of two strong magnetic ball bearings - one placed on each side of the tongue (top and underside). The balls are usually small enough not to cause a choking hazard if swallowed but if both are separate in the system the strength of attraction and movement between them can cause physical damage to the bowel resulting in the need for surgery.
