Share Aware, from NSPCC and O2, gives parents all the tools they need to have regular and informed conversations with their child about staying safe online. Under 20% of parents discuss online safety regularly with their children but we want to get every family talking about their child's life online, just as they would their day at school. PROCEDURE FOR PARENTS VISITING SCHOOL

Please be aware ALL parents visiting school site for ANY reason need to sign in at reception and wait for the appropriate member of staff. Parents should not be wandering around school site without a member of staff and not having signed in. This is for the safety of all our students. Thank you.

YEAR 7 HOMEWORK CLUB

From next Monday (20.11.17) there will be a homework club for Year 7 students who wish to stay and do homework here. It is in C2 and will be manned by Mrs Newell, Year 7 Progress and Guidance Co-ordinator. Everyone is welcome. Thank you.

OFSTED ACTION PLAN

The post Ofsted action plan has now been approved by Governors and will be published on the school website on Wednesday 28.03.18 after the key points have been shared with school staff.

POST OFSTED PARENT AND CARER FEEDBACK

In response to parent feedback: * Ofsted report is now on our school website * Staff have now been briefed to ensure effective use of the Show My Homework website * Technical issues with texting home system have now been addressed to ensure improved communication with home * Steps have been taken to ensure the First Day Response is more efficient * We are seeking a new smart phone friendly website * Parents/Carers will be kept up to date with progress on the post Ofsted action plan * Student phone policy to be reviewed

YEAR 6 TRANSITION DAYS

Current Year 6 students that are due to start here in September 2018 will spend the day at Kirkby College for a transition day on Wednesday 11.07.18 and 12.07.18

YEAR 9 PARENTS EVENING

HEALTH ALERT- FAKE TONGUE PIERCINGS

Public Health England have been notified of incidents involving teenagers in Nottinghamshire who have presented in hospital with abdominal complications following swallowing fake tongue piercings. This fashion statement consists of two strong magnetic ball bearings - one placed on each side of the tongue (top and underside). The balls are usually small enough not to cause a choking hazard if swallowed but if both are separate in the system the strength of attraction and movement between them can cause physical damage to the bowel resulting in the need for surgery.

YEAR 8 PARENTS EVENING

Year 8 Parents Evening is on 20.06.18 from 3.30pm - 6.30pm. Students will be bringing home a letter and an appointment sheet to make their own appointments. We look forward to seeing you then. Thank you.

YEAR 11 CELEBRATION MORNING

Friday 22.06.18 is Year 11 Celebration Morning. Students need to arrive in full uniform at 10.15am for leavers breakfast in the canteen, shirt signing is 10.45am and this is followed by an assembly in the Performance Hall. All students should be off site by 12pm. Please ensure students have suitable arrangements to get home if required. High standards of behaviour and thoughtfulness towards other students and staff will be expected. Thank you
