Student Council

The Student Council at Kirkby College exists to engage all students in the decision making process of the school and give students a voice though their class and year representatives.

Each tutor group elects two members to represent them on their Year Group Council and each Year Group Council elects two members to the whole School Council. Student Council members are expected to lead class discussions within their tutor group in order to establish student priorities and concerns. They are then able to feed this information back to the Senior Leadership Team so that discussions can take place about how these issues can be resolved or these priorities can be implemented.

The role of Student council members develops leadership skills and gives students the opportunity to make a difference to their school life and that of their peers. In addition, it introduces students to the democratic process and the way in which politics affects our lives on a daily basis.

In order for the Student council to be successful we need lots of ideas, enthusiasm and commitment. If you think you can make a difference to life at Kirkby College and would like to serve as a Student Council member, speak to your Tutor or your PaG.

We are consulting on an important new proposal for Kirkby College to join a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). Please see our letters page for further information, document called MAT 2017. Thank you
