Our Year 8 Student Lucy Dillon-Barnes “Braved the Shave” in order to raise money for Cancer Awareness.  She raised over £300 for this fantastic cause, well done Lucy!

Our new Year 7 students had an unexpected treat when they were taken off site to watch the Tour of Great Britain pass through the town on their first day in school this month.

The whole school took part in a Mufti day on 30.06.17, in order to raise donations for the Kirkby Storehouse Food Bank, with each student bringing in an item of food in order to wear non uniform for the day.  It was a great success and there were many full boxes collected by staff from the food bank who were very grateful. Thank you to all who donated.

On Wednesday 28th June our students went to Mansfield Market for Enterprise Day.  Even though it was wet and rainy all day our students were brilliant working as a team to sell their products and engaged with the public in a truly professional way.  During the awards ceremony at Ransom Hall our team “CGLS” won best team, which was sponsored by Linney Group.  This team consisted of our students Josh Curtis, Katie Stevens and Sophie Lunn.  “Plaque planet” were highly commended in the best product category, which were our students Ethan Henstock, Libby Brierley, Leah Farley and Shafiq Oppal.  Well done to all!

On 01.03.17 Mr Johnson & Mrs Newell took a group of Year 11 students to the local foodbank (storehouse foodbank in the Ashwood Centre) and presented them with a food parcel.  This was funded by money raised from the bag pack the Year 11 students did at Morrisons.

Thank you to Morrisons for all their support.

Members of the Kirkby College Food Forum had a fantastic time today (31.01.17) meeting with Green Gourmet food suppliers.

Students enjoyed trialling a range of food products, whilst giving their opinions on the products tested.  Students also voted for a range of new products to be introduced to the canteen.

As a school we raised a massive total of £680.56 for Children in Need 2016.  Everyone made a fantastic effort and special mention goes to Mrs Smith who was on the receiving end of several wet sponges!

Year 7’s are pictured taking part in a penny race, for which they had a target of £100.  They smashed this and a great time was had by all.

The money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of lots of children, THANK YOU once again for the team effort.

The British Heart Foundation’s popular skipping event is designed to encourage young people to be more active whilst having fun.  This took place in Kirkby College for Year 7 & 8 on 31.01.17 & 01.02.17 in our Sports Hall and students who participated paid 50p each as they were allowed to wear sports wear throughout the day.

Money raised is for British Heart Foundation.
